Uxbridge on Cusp of Title after Convincing Win

With a 6-3 win over Carson FC at home, Uxbridge Town AFC is now in complete control of the Premier League table. With only 2 matches to go, Uxbridge holds a 6 point lead over Walking L's, and a 34 goal difference advantage. The Lions need only a draw at reigning champions Blackley Town next week to be able to hoist the trophy.

Goals from Barragan, Gatti, and Cadogan gave the Lions a 3-0 lead at halftime over Carson. Bhradain Henderson pushed his goal total on the season to 30 with a second half hat trick, but Cadogan finished a hat trick of his own to move himself to 32, holding the golden boot lead. Unfortunately, Gaetano Gatti picked up a second yellow card in the 90th minute, so he will have to miss next week's match.

In the post-match press conference, manager MacCallum Barry noted that focus on the task at hand was more important than ever. "Obviously, we are in a situation where distractions are absolutely everywhere" said Barry. "The pressure for us to get past this final milestone is very high. Obviously, I believe in these lads. They have shown an impressive resiliency and the consistent ability to rise to the occasion whenever we needed it. Now, it's just a bit more to go."

Captain Stephen Mill echoed his manager's praise of the team and looked forward to the end. "We are so very close" said Mill. "One more solid performance, and we will be officially over that line. Everyone here has worked their tail off to get us to this point. The effort at the training grounds never wavered all season. And here we are on the cusp of victory. Getting to hoist that trophy will be our reward for a well played season."

Uxbridge heads to Blackley Town next week with a chance to hoist the trophy, needing only a draw or a draw or loss by the Walking L's. The Lions beat Blackley 1-0 earlier in the season.
