Weir Named Manager in Stratford Next Season

Yesterday, news broke that Uxbridge assistant manager Denzell Weir was hired to be the manager for FC Stratford-Upon-Avon King's Men for next season. Weir previously spent over 30 years with former AFPL club Stratford United, first as a player and then as a coach, eventually becoming assistant manager to MacCallum Barry there. After a brief managing tenure at Northern London City FC, Weir rejoined Barry when the latter was hired on as manager at Uxbridge.

Uxbridge Town held a press conference today to confirm the departure. There, manager MacCallum Barry spoke glowingly about Weir and looked forward to the challenge of coaching against him. "When I came in to Uxbridge two years ago, Denzell was the first person I called to be a part of my staff" said Barry. "I obviously had success with him before, and I felt that we could replicate that success here. I wasn't sure that he would take this position, but when he did, I knew that it was only a matter of time that he would get hired on as a manager somewhere. So, I am very happy to see him taking this position. We're going to finish out this season strong, and then he will move on to this new venture." When asked about a replacement, Barry shot the suggestion down. "We are going to finish the season first" said Barry. "Once we get into the offseason, we will figure all of thar out. Right now, our attention is on the rest of our matches."

For his part, Denzell Weir told reporters that getting to work with MacCallum Barry again was a dream come true. "I have been incredibly fortunate in my career" said Weir. "To get the opportunity to learn under the best manager in England with two amazing clubs was a great experience. And next year, it's time for me to take on a new challenge. But for now, we have a season to finish and a title to win. That's still the focus."

Uxbridge remains at the top of the table, 7 points clear of second place Carson FC. The Lions are back in action this weekend as they host Rebel Nation FC.
