Two thirds of the way through the AFPL season, Uxbridge Town AFC sit at the top of the league table with 62 points in 26 matches, 5 points clear of both Carson FC and Queen City FC. Now, with only 12 matches remaining in the season, there is some real buzz around the idea that Uxbridge could come away with the league title.
Manager MacCallum Barry has been in this situation before and said that there are no secrets to remaining at the top once you get there. "All of the boring truisms about success are largely correct" said Barry. "It's all about maintaining focus throughout the season and not taking any opponent for granted. Being at the top obviously feels good, but it means that you have 19 teams in the league gunning for you. Consistency, focus, and hard work are the only path to the trophy."
Uxbridge has this week off from league play, and will return to league action on the road against 13th placed side Gravy FC.
